Together with AI in Coaching

Updated: May 20

ree

I recently subscribed to a newsletter that keeps me informed about the latest innovations and updates in artificial intelligence (AI). My decision to sign up was not driven by my nerdy interests, but rather by the realisation that AI is increasingly becoming a part of my daily life, whether I embrace it or not.

I’ve come across AI in various forms, such as customer service chatbots, appointment scheduling systems, travel assistants, writing tools, social media feeds, recommendation systems, and even my kids’ homework and exam platforms.

One thing is certain, AI is here to stay. With this in mind, I decided to learn more about its complexities and what it can offer me.

A couple of highlights from my findings…

Humanoid robots will be commercially available sooner than anticipated.

These robots will be present in public spaces like hotels and supermarkets, where they will be able to perform tasks such as greeting clients, stacking shelves, loading and unloading goods, and providing assistance to customers.

Being a short person, I can see the benefit of having a robot help me when I cannot reach the cat food on the top shelf at my local store. However, I still prefer interacting with a human cashier rather than using a self-checkout machine.

I highly value interaction with another person and share a smile and a listening ear. The human connection is something that cannot be replicated by technology.

An AI conversation simulator has been developed.

This tool allows individuals to practice work conversations or engage in role-plays with an AI partner. The benefit of this is that individuals can effectively prepare for anticipated questions and improve their communication skills in real-life situations, such as job interviews or client interactions.

But...what about non-verbal communication?

I believe that grasping non-verbal communication is essential in any conversation. Recognising facial expressions, gestures, body language, movement, touch, eye contact, and tone of voice are all crucial elements that should not be overlooked.

How can we embrace AI in coaching and will people be using AI coaching platforms?

What is your experience with AI?

Where can you see the benefits and the risks?

I’d be interested to hear your thoughts and opinions.
