The power of a hug

Updated: May 20

Did you know that hugging can lower your stress levels? A warm embrace releases oxytocin (the ‘love hormone’), reduces cortisol (the stress hormone), and calms feelings of fear and anxiety. For professional women juggling work and motherhood, a simple hug can be a powerful reset button.

💛 How to Become a Healthy Hugger:

✔ Hug your children first thing in the morning - it sets a positive tone for the day.

✔ Embrace your partner at the end of a long day - it strengthens your bond.

✔ Give yourself a hug (yes, really!) - self-compassion matters.

Make it count! Instead of a short, three-second hug, hold the embrace for twenty seconds for the extra nourishing dose of 'love hormones'.

🐶 Hugging Pets = Instant Mood Boost

A cuddle with your pet can reduce loneliness, lower blood pressure, and provide a deep sense of comfort. Dogs, in particular, thrive on touch and affection! (Yeah, I had to chase my cat so I can take this picture 🙀)

🌍 Hugging Across Cultures:

In a professional setting, understanding cultural differences helps avoid awkward moments. In some countries like Brazil or Italy, hugs are warm and frequent, while in places like Japan or Scandinavia, personal space is more valued. Not everyone welcomes unexpected hugs. Respecting boundaries is key - some people may feel uncomfortable, anxious, or even unsafe.

So, who will you hug today? 🤗💛
